Hamlet: The Final Assignment

Having done five File Document Assignments for each act, in Shakespeare’s Hamlet, you will be ready for the Final Assignment. Your assignment begins with the creation of a web-blog. For this task, you will get a period in the library (Tuesday November 4th) to create this page. Please use the following website and follow the instructions: https://www.blogger.com/start.

Posting Assignment

Your first post is to be written on one of the following:
1. Create a collage of Hamlet’s complex mind. Demonstrate your own understanding of his character by your choices and the positioning of the images. If you choose, you could make a line drawing of Hamlet’s mind map as well (one central idea/theme and ideas fanning out from it that are interconnected with one another in a meaningful way). Once you have completed your collage or mind map, write a response, reflecting upon/justifying your choices (minimum 300 words + visual component, include a word count). Don’t forget that you can scan your collage or mind map, or post it if it’s done digitally.

2. Imagine that you have just seen Shakespeare’s Hamlet performed in the Great Globe Theatre in England, and write a review of the play as if you were posting it on a web review page, and it is the first time you’ve seen the play. Things to address in the review:

- The actors (think of the film version for this part), costume, scenery, plot, character development, use of imagery, themes, final thoughts about the play

3. Write a song that can be sung in the Court about the play. This song can also take the form of a poem (use the sonnets you have to guide you). You can write the song about the play in its entirety, or about Hamlet (or other characters). The song should be a minimum of fifteen (15) lines.

4. Write a comparison between two characters of your choice. Here are some suggestions:

- Claudius & Hamlet - Claudius & Polonius (as fathers) - Hamlet & Laertes - Roles of Rosencrantz & Guildenstern & Grave Diggers - Gertrude & Polonius

When writing these comparisons, make sure you use proof from the text to support your points. This is good practice for your comparative essay skills. Minimum 450 words (include a word count)
